LEILA MOTAEI Piano Instruction

Leila Motaei teaches piano & vocal performance, improvisation and composition to children and adults of all ages in a variety of styles from classical to pop to blues. She concentrates on creating a repertoire with her students that's reflective of their personal taste, as well as different approaches to studying technique and theory that are fitted to each individual's learning style.

Located in Piedmont, near Lake Merritt, you may come directly to her lovely home studio for lessons, where she has a charming 100-year-old baby grand piano ready for her students. She also teaches and accompanies at Cantare Con Vivo. Cantare is a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing the power and beauty of choral music. It's innovative and inclusive in-school music education classes and afterschool choirs reach children who lack access to the arts.

Leila holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Theory/Composition with an emphasis in Piano Performance from the University of California Davis. She has studied with John McCarthy & Dr. Victoria Neve. She has been teaching, writing, recording and performing professionally for more than 15 years.

​

She is a current member of the Music Teacher's Association of California, was a teacher at the Blue Bear School of Music in San Francisco for several years, in addition to having a full private studio. Her students have gone on to study at SOTA and The San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as participate in composition master classes. She has also completed her Orff Schulwerk Pedagogy Certification.
